The Full Story

About

The story of Nexus Strategy & Implementation begins with a shared passion for empowering communities, organizations, and businesses to thrive. Co-founders Gretchen Sipp and Jessica Renslow have been partners in impactful work since 2015, collaborating on numerous community-focused projects and initiatives. Their complementary skills, combined with years of experience in community engagement, planning, and strategy, form the backbone of this dynamic brand.


From grassroots initiatives to large-scale strategic plans, Gretchen and Jessica have worked tirelessly to bring transformative ideas to life in their home state of Indiana and beyond, including:
​

  • Senior University (2023-2025) with the Center for Urban and Regional Excellence: Series of digital literacy workshops (virtual and hybrid) geared towards training people 65+ to harness their narratives using free technology tools and their mobile devices. 

  • Launching the Lagoon (2023-2024) with Indiana Humanities Unearthed Initiative: Short film promoting the importance of public-private partnerships and community engagement when stewarding long term green space projects across Indiana.

  • Barrier Free Beach Plan (2020): Promoting connectivity and accessible solutions for people of all abilities across Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties as they recreate in the Indiana Dunes.

  • City of Gary Bike and Pedestrian Plan (2020-2021): Promoting connectivity and active transportation solutions across the city.

  • City of Gary Comprehensive Plan (2019): Helping shape a vision for sustainable growth and equitable development.

  • The Stage Small Business Incubator (2016-2024): Supporting entrepreneurs and small business owners in building their dreams through creating business plans and conducting workshops (in-person & virtual).

  • Fest in the First Community Festival (2016–2024): Bringing Gary’s First District to life with vibrant celebrations of art, culture, and local business.

  • Neighborhood Spotlight with the Legacy Foundation (2015-2017): A series of workshops, trainings, community presentations, SMART goal sessions culminating in the implementation of a grassroots initiative focused on revitalizing Gary's Miller neighborhood. 

  • Miller Spotlight Strategic Neighborhood Plan (2015): Strategic plan drafted from SWOT data and SMART goals created during neighborhood workshops that has led to contributions to local and regional projects, driving community-focused leadership, empowerment and sustainable growth.

Together, their work has impacted thousands of residents, created opportunities for small businesses, and supported community-building efforts throughout Northwest Indiana.
